We had a wonderful stay at the bear, enjoying the charming character of the historic building. the staff were accommodating, allowing us to check into our room early. our top-floor room, though a bit cozy, was clean and beautifully renovated, featuring a comfortable bed and a powerful shower. the beer garden was a lovely spot to unwind, and breakfast was delicious, though it’s best enjoyed at a leisurely pace.
Not one thing! 😊.

Very lovely stay, as always. Warm, beautifully maintained rooms provided with a delicious breakfast and a proper bath. Marvellous location to Bethesda Chapel. Found in a beautiful area near the garden for guests, the restaurant and the centre of Crickhowell. Beer bar with warm drinks.

We had a lovely stay at Bear, enjoying a modern courtyard room with an comfortable bed. The atmosphere was perfect for relaxing, especially in the revamped beer garden. We indulged in excellent food during our evening at the bar, and the friendly service from the staff made our visit even more enjoyable. It was a fantastic experience for us and our dog, who felt right at home with the warm hospitality.
Some minor issues needed attention. 😕.

I had a great stay with excellent value for my money! The room was cozy and well-appointed, and the staff were friendly, making my experience enjoyable from start to finish.
The breakfast could use a wider variety of options.

A nice country inn with excellent food (breakfast, lunch and dinner) and good beer. Well located for the Brecon Beacons, Tintern Abbey, Hay-on-Wye, Abergavenny, etc. Very helpful and friendly staff. Well kept hotel with reasonable size car park.
The matresses are too soft for my liking. The staff were very helpful in letting me try several rooms but the matresses were all the same. They put boards under the matress but this was of limited effect. Only limited channels on TV in my room although other rooms have digiboxes, so I was told. As I booked one of the more expensive rooms I thought it would have had a digibox too.

The room was cosy in particular bed and they provided wake-up service when I asked. Its location was central, 400 metres from St Edmund's Church.

A great "feel" - relaxing and welcoming. Excellent room and very good room service. Breakfasts were very good with excellent coffee! Meals in the bar were first class in a good atmosphere. Very good in meeting the requirements of my wife's gluten free diet.
Car parking was difficult because of the cramped layout available and the popularity of the place around mealtimes!

Hotel is beautiful and full of interesting features.
The food is amazing there, the only thing we would say is that its a shame they go to so much effort with the food and then cook frozen chips?

The food at the hotel was of a high quality and you seem to have got the portions just right....we hate wasting food!
We thought the hotel room we stayed in at £99.00 per night was too expensive. The bathroom was tiny and the bedroom dark and small. We have stayed in better equipped hotel rooms at a much more reasonable cost.
